Warner Bros. will gather his gods
If Ava DuVernay once refused to lead the shooting of "Black Panther", this does not mean that the superhero theme does not interest her at all. And while "The Break of Time" conquers moviegoers all over the world, DuVernay has found another large-scale project for herself.According to Deadline, Warner Bros. invited the director to adapt for large screens the comic strip "New Gods", created by the legendary author of graphic novels and artist Jack Kirby back in the 70s. At the moment, the major is looking for a screenwriter who will help DuVernay in the film adaptation of the original source. The project, like all films in the DC universe, is expected to receive a budget exceeding $ 100 million. The main characters of the original comic are the inhabitants of two planets - the heavenly New Genesis and Apokolips, which can be compared to the hell from the works of Dante. The new gods are outwardly similar to humans, but they have superhuman strength and endurance. The graphic novels introduced readers to many popular characters - Orion, Darkseid, Big Barda. It is noteworthy that back in December last year, DuVernay tweeted that Big Barda is her favorite heroine.  Parademons and a symbol in Bruce Wayne's Justice League nightmare hinted that Darkseid would be the next foe for Batman and company. However, due to the change in WB strategy, viewers are unlikely to see the sequel to Zach Snyder's blockbuster, but the ruler of Apokolips will certainly appear in New Gods. Now journalists find it difficult to say whether the film adaptation will be related to the DC cinematic universe, or whether it, like the Joker film, will stand apart.  Although Wrinkle in Time received mixed reviews, the WB management is still ready to entrust DuVernay with a massive blockbuster.
