Joker Targets R Rating
Warner Bros. Studio not only produces blockbusters based on famous franchises, but is also interested in screen adaptations of various graphic novels. This idea began with Joker, a film about the rise of the Clown Prince of the underworld with Joaquin Phoenix in the title role. The project should be the first film under the new DC brand to be called DC Dark or DC Black. This studio will focus on low-budget films that are not related to the DC cinematic universe. According to ScreenRant, the first film of "dark" DC may receive an R rating.Ever since the production of the tape was announced, there has been increasing hype. The project not only got the director of "Bachelor Party in Vegas" and "Back to Back" Todd Phillips, but also brought together a solid cast. Many speculated about obscene language or erotic scenes in the film. It seems that "Joker" is still counting on an adult audience. It is rumored that the picture will receive an R rating due to the erotic scenes with several supporting actresses. The assumption is that strip clubs and burlesque shows will serve as the backdrop for the tape. Even if the guesses do not come true, the presence of any nudity will send "Joker" to the shelf with films of the penultimate rating of the American Film Association.  While Logan and Deadpool 2 have garnered favor with both audiences and critics, WB and DC have yet to join the trend. As such, Joker will be the studio's first R-rated film since Zach Snyder's Watchmen, aside from the director's cut of Batman v Superman, released in 2016. The studios are now more open to adult ratings, and Margot Robbie has hinted that Birds of Prey might get one. However, Jared Leto also thought that Suicide Squad would be released for an adult audience, but he was wrong. At the same time, only two of Phillips' films out of nine received a PG-13 rating, while the other seven (and the last five) - R. He prefers to create far from family comedies, and Phoenix loves to star in serious dramas. The presence of actors like Robert De Niro and Mark Maron also hints at an R rating, and this is probably the best way to tell the Joker story. The film will premiere on October 4, 2019.
