The Joker is not over yet

Image The Joker is strikingly different from the comic books that Warner Bros. released earlier. The atmospheric film about becoming one of the most colorful villains in DC history wowed audiences at the Venice Film Festival, instantly turned Joaquin Phoenix into a potential Oscar nominee and surprised viewers so much that they still carry their hard-earned money to theaters. The fees of "Joker" have already exceeded a billion dollars, and this is where Todd Phillips' tape went down the beaten path: it will acquire a sequel.

Phillips is in talks to return to the director's chair, and he will co-write the script with Joker writer Scott Silver. Insiders report that Phoenix's contract with the studio also contains a clause about a possible sequel, so he will probably return to his role. Phoenix prefers not to deal with franchises, but even during the filming of "Joker" he and Phillips began to discuss ideas for a sequel, and the actor was so captured by this thought that he created a series of fan posters for a potential second part. At the same time, some sources claim that nothing has been finally decided yet, and neither Phillips nor Phoenix have formal agreements regarding the sequel.

The good news for DC fans doesn't end there. Immediately after the great start of The Joker at the box office, Todd Phillips went to negotiate with WB President Toby Emmerick. The director wanted to get from the head of the studio the rights to a number of DC characters, who in the future would receive the same solo projects as the Joker. Emmerick, of course, did not agree, since the DC Major protects the canon like the apple of his eye, and WB does not want to row everyone under the same gloomy comb. Still, viewers need more positive blockbusters a la "Wonder Woman" and "Aquaman". However, Phillips got the go-ahead for a sequel to Joker and the opportunity to make an equally dark film about another DC comic hero.

Who is next in line for a solo album from Phillips is still unknown. Wonder Woman and Batman can be dismissed immediately, and now journalists are betting on Darkseid or Lex Luthor.
