The plot of the work of the father of Oscar-winning Daniel Day-Lewis is the famous detective author Frank Kearns, who planned the perfect crime to take revenge on his son's killer. To the surprise of the writer, his abuser is found dead even before he could begin to implement the final stage of his plan. The police have every reason to believe that the murder was the work of Kearns, and only private detective Nigel Strangeways puts forward the theory that his heartbroken father could be set up ...  The adaptation of the book will be handled by the British Writers Guild Award nominee Gaby Chiappe (Their Finest Hour). With 15 novels in the Strangeways detective series, the BBC and Scott Free Productions have a great opportunity to build a long-running television franchise out of it.
