Big Brother is watching you
Film company POW! Productions will take viewers into the near future, when technology will allow the creation of ultra-realistic humanoid robots. According to Deadline, the American studio has acquired the rights to film adaptation of Alexander Weinstein's story "Farewell to Jan".The original story was published in September 2016 as part of the Children of the New World collection. Weinstein's work earned praise from literary critics and made it to The New York Times' 100 Best Books of the Year list. The plot revolves around a married couple with Asian roots who acquired an android, nicknamed Yang, so that he would introduce their daughter to the cultural heritage of their ancestors. The robot perfectly copes with the role of an older brother, but one day he unexpectedly breaks down, and the family has to come to terms with the fact that their pet will have to be sent to a landfill ...  South Korean Kogonada will act as a screenwriter and director of the film based on "Farewell to Yang". The documentary master made his feature film debut last year with the drama Columbus, which earned a fantastic 98% rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
