Star Trek 4 is looking for a villainess
As reported by ScreenRant, Paramount is looking for actresses to play new female characters in Star Trek 4, one of whom will play the villainess. The existence of the project has been in question since the release of "Star Trek: Infinity". Despite a warm welcome from critics, Infinity grossed just $ 343.4 million worldwide on a budget of $ 185 million, so moviegoers weren't sure if the next film would be given the green light.However, it looks like Paramount management does have plans for Star Trek 4. SJ Clarkson was recently appointed to direct, and it is rumored that Paramount is in talks with The Walking Dead and Black Panther star Danai Gurira.  According to the portal That Hashtag Show, Clarkson is casting for two female roles, and the director's priority is an actress aged 45 to 60 years. One of the newcomers will most likely play the role of the main antagonist of the sequel, while the other will play a new heroine who will join the Enterprise team. Probably, Gurira, who, by the way, does not fit the above age criterion, will receive one of these roles if she signs a contract.  Another criterion for selecting actresses is their popularity. Gurira is well known as she has already become a part of modern pop culture. If she gets the role of the antagonist, it will be logical for the franchise. So, earlier in this series, Captain Kirk's team was terrorized by Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba. According to the director, Tilda Swinton would be perfect for the role of the villain, but, unfortunately, she will definitely not star in the upcoming sequel. Perhaps fans of the space saga can learn more about the new Star Trek universe project at Comic-Con next week.
