”Kinotavr - 2018” remained in the ”Heart of the World”
Today, the main national film festival in our country, the 29th Kinotavr, has ended. Since 2004, the show has pursued a noble and, as it seems to us, quite justified goal - to illuminate exclusively our cinema. And there is something to illuminate. Contrary to the conventional wisdom of ordinary viewers and even some critics, USA cinema does not just exist, it has its own powerful voice and unmistakably reflects all the problems that plague society. In addition, it lives inseparably from our reality: every second time from the stage of the Winter Theater there were calls for justice in general, and in relation to Kirill Serebrennikov and Oleg Sentsov in particular.USA cinema knows how to be relevant and well-aimed, like Avdotya Smirnova's picture "The Story of One Destination", which we will write about in more detail a little later. Sharp and exciting, like the tape of Ivan I. Tverdovsky "Podbrosy" (you can read about it at this link). Our compatriots, talented authors, despite the meager budget and obstacles from government agencies, know how to touch the quick, get into the very heart of the addressee and leave them with a feeling of fullness and gratitude, as Natalia Meshchaninova did in the drama Heart of the World ( we will also write about it in more detail). Finally, USA cinema can make you laugh to tears, make you really nervous and give you a completely new viewer experience. We highly recommend the paintings "USA demon" and "Uncle Sasha" for this (read what these experiments were here).  As promised by the Kinotavr directorate, headed by Alexander Rodnyansky, the festival program this pre-jubilee year was really rich. The competing films were worth each other, and the clear favorite was controversial until the very end. Moreover, this time it was not in vain that a separate competition was given to debutants. They proved that a generation of brave and intelligent authors is growing up in the country who are not afraid to speak out loudly about what they, and therefore us, young people care about the most. The jury of the main competition, headed by director Alexei Popogrebsky, and the judges of the debutants, headed by critic Andrey Plakhov, had a hard time. Tverdovsky) Special diploma named after Mikael Tariverdiev "For the best musical solution of the film" - Leonid Desyatnikov, Alexey Sergunin ("Van Gogh", director Sergei Livnev) Best Actor Award - Stepan Devonin (Heart of the World, director Natalia Meshchaninova)  Best Actress Award - Anna Slyu (Tossing, directed by Ivan I.
