Lois and Lex

Image A few years ago, FOX introduced the Dark Knight Rising TV series that was different from the rest of the DC comics television shows. Now the creators of "Gotham" are ready to take on another iconic character in the universe. According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment have commissioned the first season of Metropolis, a prequel to Superman's story.

Gotham's executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon are in charge of the new project. The latter will also lead the filming of the premiere episode, for which the duo himself wrote the script. The first season will consist of 13 episodes. The start of filming is scheduled for the fall, so that the show will premiere next year. However, Metropolis will not be released on FOX: the series is intended for the online service DC, where it will join the Titans, the new season of the Young Justice League and the animation project about Harley Quinn.

According to the official synopsis, the action will unfold in the amazing and at the same time eerie Metropolis, even before Superman appeared here. Reporter Lois Lane and billionaire scientist Lex Luthor team up to investigate fringe science and expose the city's dirty secrets. Some journalists have already noted the similarity of the plot with such popular series as "The X-Files" and "Beyond the Boundary." Of course, Lois and Lex have crossed paths on the small screens more than once - in Smallville and Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, but in the absence of Clark Kent himself, this duo seems a little strange.

Remarkably, Metropolis is not the only prequel in the Man of Steel universe. Syfy is preparing a project called Krypton, produced by David S. Goyer. The show will take viewers to the titular planet and tell the story of Kal-El's grandfather, as well as show the events that led to the destruction of Krypton.
