Blumhouse wants to rise from hell with a cry

Image Blumhouse Productions is one of the most successful suppliers of horror movies on the modern film market, along with New Line, which presented the audience with It and The Conjuring with its spin-offs. In her arsenal there are film series "Astral", "Sinister", "Judgment Night" and "Paranormal Activity". And if earlier the brainchild of Jason Bloom was guided by original ideas, then last year the studio applied its formula of low-budget, but profitable horror films at the box office to “Halloween”.

Michael Myers has been absent from the big screens for almost a decade, and Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 was hardly a hit. Thanks to Blumhouse, Myers has made a triumphant return, raising $ 253 million on a $ 10 million budget, and producers are already thinking about a sequel to Halloween. Journalists quite rightly asked Bloom if his company wants to take on other cult slashers. As it turned out, Blumhouse is eyeing HellRaiser and Scream. So far, however, Bloom has not given hope to fans of the series:“We definitely discussed this issue. Currently, there are no concrete progress in this direction, but we are considering such a possibility ”.

If Blumhouse does take on the new "HellRaiser", then the fans of the franchise will be in seventh heaven, because since the release of "Underworld" in 2000, Pinhead lives on DVD, and the last parts were so low-quality and low-budget that the star film series Doug Bradley refused to participate in their filming. News about a reboot or remake of HellRaiser appeared more than once, but those projects were stuck at the development stage.

The Scream actors, in turn, admitted that they are ready to return to their classic roles in the fifth part, but if Blumhouse does a slasher, then one key element will be missing - the director Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015. The latest rendition of "The Scream" was released on TV, but the third season of the series has yet to make it to the screens.
