Fatal attraction

Image Ron Howard's company continues to plunge into the abyss of remake addiction and sequel building. Earlier this month, we reported that the management of Imagine Entertainment is considering the idea of creating a series based on the fantasy adventure "Willow", and today news came from the studio about progress in the work on the modern version of the psychological thriller "Fear".

The original film by James Foley was released in April 1996. The main roles in the film were played by then only the rising stars of the Dream Factory - Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg. In the center of the thriller plot was a 16-year-old girl from a wealthy family who met a sweet and charming guy. The main character of the story did not even suspect that her new boyfriend would turn out to be a wolf in sheep's clothing ...

The picture frankly disappointed critics and started with just four in the US box office. Nevertheless, "Fear" showed excellent endurance at the box office and got to the level of self-sufficiency, and after Wahlberg received a nomination for an MTV Award in the category "Best Movie Villain", the film became a hit on video.

Imagine Entertainment announced plans to create a remake last spring. The screenplay was written by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award nominee Jonathan Herman (Voice of the Streets). Today it became known that the project has finally entered the casting stage. The leading role in the film was given to the promising young actress Amandla Stenberg, who gained worldwide fame thanks to the image of Ruta in the film saga "The Hunger Games". It can be assumed that Stenberg will take over the role from Reese Witherspoon and play a gullible, not too picky girl in dating.

The film will be produced by Academy Award winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind).
