Review of the movie PiraMMMida. One person and MMMuch money

Movie “ PiraMMMida ” talks about the lone mathematician Sergei Mamontov, who in the early 90s created a giant financial pyramid, thereby taking control of his organization “ MMM ” about a quarter of the money turnover of newly formed USA.

It's not news to anyone that the script was based on an unpublished book by Sergei Mavrodi, the main hero of the day. And so that the audience in no way thinks that the “ pyrammmid ” this is a biopic, they changed some details of the story, or rather only one. The surname Mavrodi in the movie has been redesigned to be no less iconic and meaningful – Mamontov. Probably, the scriptwriters wanted to use the positive image of the merchant and, which is not unimportant, the patron of the arts Savva Mamontov. And if it is not difficult to imagine Mavrodi as a merchant, then the definition of `` philanthropist '' here is clearly out of place.

If we consider “ PiraMMMidu ” as an original movie, and not as a movie adaptation of Sergei Mavrodi's financial machinations, the movie itself is not very much. It begins with a brief historical introduction in white letters on a black screen and a menacing voiceover that immediately, in my opinion, rhymes with the first shots of Star Wars, only the letters do not go into limitless space.

The only merit of this movie is – this is Alexei Serebryakov, who played Sergei Mamontov. The actor not only achieved an external resemblance to Mavrodi, but both Mavrodi's manner of speech and characteristic stuttering are impeccably conveyed by Serebryakov. If in the place of Sergei Mavrodi in 1994, the face of “ MMM ” would Serebryakov, I think Mavrodi would have much more contributors from the female audience.

Alexei Serebryakov, despite the fact that he plays, of course, the main negative character, managed to show human traits in Mavrodi, in that person who says that his soul cannot be sold, because it simply does not exist. Thanks to Serebryakov's game, one can believe that Mamontov feels sorry for his wife, when she falls from the roof of the building `` MMM '', blinded by the light of three huge letters, one might also think that Mamontov is not devoid of ordinary dreams, like `` Seagulls '', ``; like Gagarin ”.

The rest of the writers' attempts to show the human face of Sergei Mamontov turn out to be so unsuccessful that when Serebryakov's phrase `` I don't trade in USA '' feeling awkward. No matter how the moviemakers tried to focus on the personality of Mamontov himself, it is difficult not to guess that the person on the screen will not give any money to the depositors and that, most likely, this is just a huge fraud. Therefore, the image of Robin Hood as an altruist who started this whole `` pyrammid '' not for the sake of money, but for the sake of the idea of returning to USA, world domination looks very tense.

The scenario “ PiraMMMida ” lacks a complete picture of what is happening. The movie shows Mamontov's team in detail, but the image of depositors against its background is not bright enough. Maybe, it would have been necessary to pay a little more attention to how this financial fraud affected the depositors, otherwise several frames with grandfather sitting in the garden in a pre-infarction state with `` mammoths '' scattered around; clearly does not balance the plot.

In the history of cinema there are many examples of the adaptation of grandiose scams, frauds or just gambles, just remember “ Wall Street ” Oliver Stone or “ Twelve Chairs ” Mark Zakharov. In “ PiraMMMide ” You can see the influence of “ Wall Street ”: Mammoths standing on the roof of a building with huge letters “ MMM ” very similar to Michael Douglas in a similar episode, when he stands near a huge window overlooking the skyscrapers. But Wall Street rdquo; There are two things that Pyrammmida lacks: objectivity and the antipode goodie. It must be admitted that the lawyer Gutov (Daniil Spivakovsky) has some glimpses of a positive hero, but they are clearly not enough for a full-fledged image of an honest man in Mamontov's team.
