MGM will return Lara Croft to the screens
MGM has acquired the rights to movie the popular Lara Croft series. According to the official press release, the upcoming movie, which is supposed to give rise to a new franchise, will be a joint project of MGM and GK Films. Recall that the original game was released in 1996 by the British company Eidos , and very soon became a cultural phenomenon and spawned one of the most popular series in video game history. In 2001 and 2003, Paramount Pictures released two movies based on the game, starring Angelina Jolie. In March 2013, the premiere of the game Tomb Raider; the franchise has officially been 'rebooted'.
