Warner Bros. Film Studios and MGM will join forces for a new adaptation of the popular series about adventurer and tomb raider Lara Croft. This is reported by the Variety edition.

The movie will be based on a script prepared by Evan Dougherty. He has scripts for such movies as "Snow White and the Hunter", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "Divergent" and others. Terms of work and a possible rental schedule of the movie are not specified.

Recall that the original video game was released in 1996 by the British company Eidos, one of the co-owners of which is the Warner Bros. studio. The game quickly became a cultural phenomenon and spawned one of the most popular franchises in industry history.
