John Travolta returns to TV
John Travolta was cast in the FX anthology American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson. The anthology role will mark the actor's first since Welcome Back, Cotter, in which he starred from 1975 to 1979. In the upcoming television project, Travolta will play Robert Shapiro, a key member of Simpson's defense team in the first stage of the trial. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Travolta will also serve as the executive producer of the TV show. American Horror Story: The People vs. O. J. Simpson is the first season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology, which is based on became Jeffrey Tubin's bestseller "The Run of His Life: The People v. OJ Simpson". It will also executive produce Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, Dante De Loreto, Murphy and Falchuk. The ten-episode season one will show the OJ Simpson trial through the eyes of lawyers and showcase the messy behind-the-scenes deals and maneuvering from both sides. The emphasis will be on how the unwavering confidence of the prosecution, the testimony and history of the relationship between the LAPD and the African American community - all together made the jury doubt.
