Courtney B. Vance will play the famous lawyer in the OJ Simpson series
Courtney B. Vance ("Law & Order. Malicious Intent") has a role in the first season of FX's anthology American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vance will play one of the defense attorneys in the early stages of the prosecution. American Horror Story: The People vs. O. J. Simpson is the first season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology, in which is based on Jeffrey Tubin's bestseller "The Run of His Life: The People v. OJ Simpson". The first ten-episode season will set OJ Simpson's trial through the eyes of lawyers and showcase the messy behind-the-scenes deals and maneuvering on both sides. The emphasis will be on how the unwavering confidence of the prosecution, testimony and history of the relationship between the Los Angeles Police Department and the African American community – all together made the jury doubt. Vance will play Johnny Cochran, who uttered the famous phrase, addressing the jury during the trial, when, at his request, Simpson put on "killer gloves": "Since the glove does not fit, it must justify. " Note that Vance's wife, Angela Bassett, starred with Murphy and Falchuk in several seasons of American Horror Story. Vance joined the cast of the series, which at the time of this writing includes Cube Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson, David Schwimmer and John Travolta. Scott Alexander and Larry Karatsevski will write the script for the first two episodes. Executive Producers include Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, Dante De Loreto, Murphy and Falchuk.
