Sony Pictures released an official statement on the consequences of the hacker attack. In it, in particular, the studio's management admitted that as a result of the actions of the attackers, not only important documents of Sony Pictures itself were stolen, but also the personal data of employees.

"SPE believes that criminals may have gained access to the following types of data that were provided by studio employees: names, addresses, social security numbers, driver's licenses, passport details and other government documents that identify a person, banking information, including credit card details, passwords and usernames, salary information, and more, "the statement says.

All employees are encouraged to change their passwords whenever possible and "do not respond to emails regarding their personal data", as well as report cases of suspicious manipulation.

Recall that the Sony Pictures studio was subjected to a cyber attack on November 24, 2014. The group, which called itself "Peace Defenders", demanded not to allow the release of the comedy "Interview", which deals with a conspiracy to assassinate the leader of North Korea. As a result, after the attackers threatened to "repeat the events of September 11, 2001" on the day of the movie's premiere, the largest movie theater chains in North America refused to rent it.
