The management of Sony Pictures studio, under pressure from the public, nevertheless decided to release the comedy "Interview" for limited distribution. According to Variety, the movie will air on December 25, 2014 in 300 independent cinemas across the United States.

It was originally planned to release the picture on 3000 screens belonging to the largest cinema chains in North America. However, after receiving threats from a group called Peace Defenders, the movie was canceled.

Representatives of Sony Pictures argued that this was an agreed decision of the owners of movie theaters, the latter, in turn, insisted that the rental was canceled by the studio itself. US President Barack Obama expressed regret over the cancellation of the premiere, the head of the White House was also supported by many Hollywood celebrities, who saw what was happening as a threat to freedom of speech.

Recall that the Sony Pictures studio was subjected to a powerful hacker attack on November 24, 2014. As a result of the attack, the attackers found many confidential documents of the company and its partners.

The American special services joined the investigation and later blamed the North Korean authorities for organizing the attack.
