The five largest movie theater chains in North America - Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment - have canceled the release of the comedy Interview, which was scheduled to begin on December 25, 2014. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Representatives of Sony Pictures have not yet commented on this demarche, but sources claim that the studio will try to release the picture in paid video services in order to return at least some of the funds invested in rental. The production budget of the comedy is estimated at 42 million dollars, several tens of millions more were spent on the advertising campaign.

Recall that earlier the group, which calls itself "Peace Defenders", threatened Sony Pictures studio "to repeat the events of September 11, 2001" on the day of the start of the wide distribution of "Interview" in North America. The leading actors James Franco and Seth Rogen refused to participate in all events dedicated to the movie's premiere, including popular TV shows.

The plot of the movie revolves around two TV journalists who are going to interview the North Korean leader, but being recruited by the CIA, become participants in a conspiracy to assassinate the leader.
