20th Century Fox has again changed the date for the premiere of the movie "Independence Day 2", but this time it is not so dramatic. According to the official press release, the picture will be presented to viewers not on July 1, as previously planned, but on June 24, 2016.

Thus, the sequel to the famous science fiction movie will directly compete with the movie "The Mummy", which Universal Pictures plans to restart the popular franchise. The reason for the change in the rental schedule is not specified.

The full cast of the sequel has not been announced at the time of this writing. It is expected that the movie will star some of the original cast members, including Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman. Earlier it became known that the other leading actor Will Smith refused to participate in the project.

Thus, the authors of the original movie, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, will be forced to use a version of the script for movieing, which does not include the hero of Smith. Note that the plot of the picture is still kept secret, it is only known that the inhabitants of the Earth will have to deal with a new wave of alien invaders.

The original movie was released in 1996 and became one of the highest grossing movie projects of its time.
