Regal and Cinemark, which own the largest cinema chains in North America, have announced a boycott of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2. It is reported by the Variety edition.

The reason was the previously announced deal by The Weinstein Company studio, according to which the premiere of the movie should take place on August 28, 2015 simultaneously on IMAX screens and on the Netfix video service network. Regal and Cinemark said the release is a blow to the traditional distribution scheme.
