The American Cinema Owners Association has introduced new rules for advertising upcoming movie premieres. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

From now on, the timing of movies shown before the sessions of trailers should not exceed two minutes, this is 30 seconds less than previously allowed.

At the same time, the videos are not must be shown in cinemas earlier than five months before the movie's premiere. Other promotional materials, such as posters, can only be shown in cinemas four months before the movie's release.

Car rental companies will have the right to ignore the new rules only twice a year. The changes, which took several months to be approved, will come into effect on October 1, 2014.
