Cinema owners demanded to cut trailers

The American Association of Theater Owners (NATO) is pushing for new rules for promoting movies.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the top-priority changes should be to reduce the length of pre-show trailers to two minutes.

Distributors believe that the clips provided by movie studios are too are long and often reveal content, which negatively affects the rental results.

As a rule, in American cinemas, 7-8 trailers are shown before screenings. Thus, viewers have to wait for the start from 15 to 20 minutes, which also does not contribute to the popularization of going to the cinema.

The timing of modern trailers is 2.5 minutes or more.
