Johnny Depp plans to play the famous magician and illusionist Harry Houdini. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project, which will be produced by the actor himself, will be based on the novel The Secret Life of Houdini. Creation of the first American superhero '', released in 2006. For the first time, an attempt to movie this work was announced by the Lionsgate studio back in 2009, but until that moment nothing was known about the upcoming movie. In the book, Houdini turns out to be a spy, and his death was the result of a conspiracy of mediums, among which was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Representatives of the studio stated that the movie will be shot in the thriller genre, and Houdini himself will resemble Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones at the same time.
