Independence Day sequel will not be released in 2015
20th Century Fox has postponed the premiere of Independence Day 2 for a year. According to the official press release, instead of July 3, 2015, as previously planned, the picture will be released on July 1, 2016. Thus, the sequel to the famous science fiction movie will be presented to viewers exactly 20 years after release of the first part. It is not yet known whether Will Smith will take part in the project. Previously, director Roland Emmerich claimed that he had two versions of the script - with and without Smith's hero. The plot of the picture is also still unknown. According to rumors, the action will take place several years after the events of the original movie, when humanity expects a second wave of alien intervention.
