Katie Bates Returns to American Horror Story
Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning Katie Bates (Misery) has joined the cast of the fifth season of the American Horror Story: Hotel Anthology. Show creator Ryan Murphy announced this on his Twitter page, writing: "Katie Bates runs the hotel." For Bates, movieing at The Hotel will be the third appearance in the Murphy and Brad Falchuk anthology since the recently concluded fourth season. "Freak Show" and the third – "Coven of Witches," which earned her an Emmy for Supporting Actor. Bates has joined previously confirmed Hotel stars, including Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson and Cloe Sevigny. Matt Bomer and Wes Bentley starred in Murphy's "Freak Show" in guest roles, and Chloe Sevigny – in the "Psychiatric hospital". The Hotel will be the first season not to feature anthology star Jessica Lange. On television, Bates successfully starred in episodic roles in Mike & Molly, The Office, 2.5 People ... For the latter, she won an Emmy in 2012 for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. As of this writing, Bates is co-starring with Melissa McCarthy in Ben Falcone's comedy Michelle Darnell. Production of the thirteen-episode fifth season will begin in Los Angeles in late summer.
