The Walking Dead author Robert Kirkman and his Skybound Entertainment partner David Elpert will work with Vincent Newman Entertainment to adapt Roger Zelazny's popular science fiction and fantasy franchise, The Chronicles of Amber, for television. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

At the time of this writing, a screenwriter is being sought to adapt a series of books that have sold over 15 million copies worldwide and inspired George R.R. Martin to write Game of Thrones. Kirkman, Elpert and Vincent Newman ("We Are The Millers") will co-executive produce the television project that will be offered to cable and premium channels and streaming services.

In The Chronicles of Amber, first published in 1970, the main character Corwin wakes up on Earth and does not remember anything. He soon finds out that he belongs to the royal family, whose members have the ability to travel through different parallel worlds ("shadows") and rule the true world or dimension known as Amber. The series, consisting of ten books, is divided into two arches – The Pentateuch of Corwin and the Pentateuch of Merlin.

Zelazny, who died in 1995, is one of the three closest friends Martin mentions on his website. Martin calls the writer "a storyteller who has no equal", who created a "colorful, unusual and memorable world in his genre."

"" The Chronicles of Amber " one of my favorite book series and is the main inspiration for work in movie and television, - said in a statement Elpert. – Having received the opportunity to produce this project, I fulfilled my lifelong dream. I am eager to share this amazing story with a new generation of fans. "
