Streaming service Netflix has commissioned production for the second season of its new original drama "Bloodline," which premiered on March 20, 2015. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production of the second season of the series, created by brothers Glenn and Todd A. Kessler and Daniel Zelman ("Skirmish"), will begin later this year with an eye to the premiere in 2016.

The plot of the drama is built around the Rayburn clan, a seemingly close-knit family whose well-being is threatened after the eldest son Danny (Ben Mendelssohn) returns home. The critically acclaimed drama stars Linda Cardellini, Sam Shepard, Sissy Spacek, Norbert Leo Butz, Jamie McShane, Jacinda Barrett, Enrique Murciano and Kyle Chandler. For Chandler "Pedigree" became the first TV series since the sports drama Friday Night Lights to win an Emmy for the lead role.

The series is produced by KZK Productions and Sony Pictures Television. "Pedigree" joins the line-up of original Netflix series already renewed for the following seasons: "Marco Polo", "Hemlock Grove", "BoJack Rider: A Story of Fear, Loathing and Animals", "Unyielding Kimmy Schmidt" and "Orange Is the New Black" , which will premiere on June 12, 205.
