Jim Sturgess to star in the pre-apocalyptic drama Hard Sun
Streaming service Hulu has commissioned the production of the pre-apocalyptic crime drama "Hard Sun," starring Jim Sturgess ("Cloud Atlas") and Agness Dein ("Sunset Song"). The six-part television project, led by Luther creator Neil Cross, was being developed for BBC One in December 2015. Now "Hard Sun" is the original Hulu series with BBC One. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Sturgess and Dane will play detectives Robert Hicks and Elaine Renko, partners and foes who want to tighten the law to protect those they love, in a world that every day closer to self-destruction. Hicks – a family man and excellent, but a long time ago a corrupt officer. Renko – a difficult person who has gone through a lot, on the contrary, is far from corruption. The partners are on opposite ends of the social and moral spectrum and do not trust each other – and there are reasons for that. But they must learn to work together if they want to survive before the end of the world. BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning Cross will write the script and co-executive producer with Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones) , who will co-direct with Hugh Warren (Call the Midwife).
