Matt Reeves refused to direct a solo Batman movie

Matt Reeves declined to take the vacant Batman solo director's post. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director withdrew from the negotiation process with the leadership of Warner Bros. The reason for his decision was not specified.

Sources in the studio emphasize that its leadership still hopes for the possibility of resuming negotiations with Reeves, "when the heads cool down a little," which suggests that there is some kind of conflict between the parties. Note that at the time of this writing, the director was preparing a theatrical version of The War of the Planet of the Apes.

Recall that for two years Ben Affleck was considered the director of the solo movie about Batman, but at the beginning of 2017 he refused this job, declaring his desire to focus on playing the main role. This happened almost simultaneously with the box-office failure of Affleck's directorial project, The Law of the Night.

The fate of the script for the picture, on which Affleck himself and Jeff Jones, curator of adaptations of DC comics, also worked, remained unknown. The new director was supposed to be appointed by Warner Bros. will either make significant changes to it, or abandon it altogether, requiring the creation of a different version.
