Comic-con will stay in San Diego until 2018

The Comic-con Festival, which has long been the most important event of the year not only for comic book lovers, but also for the largest Hollywood movie studios, will remain in San Diego until 2018.

According to Variety, citing its sources, the festival organizers have extended their contract with the San Diego Convention Center, which hosts major Comic-con events, for two years. Note that the term of the previous contract expired in 2016, and the organizers considered the possibility of transferring the festival to another city, since the infrastructure of San Diego could no longer cope with the influx of guests arriving at Comic-con. As a rule, during the days of the festival, a traffic collapse occurs in the city, and utilities cannot cope with serving such a number of visitors. Alternatively, Los Angeles and Anaheim were named.

Nevertheless, the city authorities are doing their best to prevent Comic-con "moving". In 2015, the Mayor of San Diego is said to have gone to great lengths to persuade hoteliers to keep prices within reasonable limits.

As a reminder, Comic-con 2015 will be ignored by some regular contributors like Marvel Studios, Paramount, Sony Pictures and Walt Disney. Only child structures will represent them.
