USA Network ordered production of Arrow

USA Network ordered the production of the drama series "Shooter", a television remake of the movie of the same name by Antoine Fuqua, after he passed the pilot stage. According to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on Stephen Hunter's bestselling book and 2007 feature movie starring Mark Wahlberg, Ryan Philip plays Bob Lee Swagger, a retired sniper who gets caught up in conspiracy to assassinate the President of the United States. Charged with attempted murder, Swagger must use all his skills to find out who set him up, prevent himself from being caught and find the true killer.

The ten-episode drama will be created jointly by the production studio Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions. John Lavigne ("The Shield"), who wrote the script for the pilot, will share executive producer duties with Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. The pilot was movieed by Simon Sellan Jones ("Bloodline"). In addition to playing the main role, Philip is the producer of the series. Omar Epps (House) is co-starring in "Arrow".

"Stephen Hunter's Bob Lee Swagger is a heroic and legendary character, and there will be plenty of time in the series to explore his story." Paramount TV President Amy Powell said in a statement.
