British authorities have denied Jedi registration of their religion

A sad day for all British Star Wars fans who consider themselves to be the Force. The British authorities, represented by the state Charity Commission, after much deliberation, rejected the request for registration in the country of the Jedi religion. This is reported by the Telegraph.

According to officials, the beliefs of the initiators of the request, united in a public organization called the Temple of the Jedi Order (TOTJO), "are not serious", since "a structure that exists mainly on the Internet cannot call itself a church."

Despite the fact that the organization publishes sermons, reports from events on its official website, and also indicates "holidays" for all followers, its practices "do not contain the key elements of worship" that would allow them to be attributed to religion.

It is worth noting that according to the 2001 census in Great Britain, about 400,000 people indicated "Jediism" as their religion, based on the mythology that George Lucas proposed to the world.

We also remind you that in December 2016 the first Star Wars spin-off titled Rogue One: A Star Wars Stories was released, showing one of the best starts of the year.
