Albus Dumbledore will appear in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. As reported by Screen Rant, this announcement was made by the director of the movie, David Yates. "Dumbledore will appear in the second movie. He will have a few scenes with Newt. Now we are deciding who will play this role. Any suggestions are welcome," he said.

Note that it was previously known that in the new cycle the characters familiar to all fans may appear, but until that moment there was no official confirmation of who it could be. Recall also that in October 2016 it was announced that Johnny Depp will star in the sequels of Fantastic Beasts. The character that the actor was asked to play was not named, but fans of the actor suggested that it could be Gellert Grindelwalt, the most powerful dark magician before the appearance of Voldemort.

According to mythology, the "Potterians" Grindelwalt and Dumbledore were friends in their youth and together tried to find the legendary Deathly Hallows, but then they parted ways. Thus, the presence of young Dumbledore in the project takes on some meaning.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released on November 17, 2016. A sequel is expected in another two years.
