There has been an impressive addition to the cast of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series. Johnny Depp has joined him, Variety reports. Warner Bros. Studio does not specify exactly what role he was asked to play, but, most likely, we are talking about some key character that is significant for the entire cycle.
Potter fans suggest that Depp was asked to play the role of the magician Gellert Grindelwalt, who was considered the most powerful dark wizard before the appearance of Voldemort. According to Potterian mythology, he was born in the late 19th century and trained in Durmstranga. From a young age, Gellert was obsessed with the search for the mysterious Deathly Hallows and the idea of the superiority of wizards over Muggles.
For some time he was tied by friendship with Albus Dumble, but the latter quickly realized all the danger posed by Grindelwalt's ambitions, and after the death of his sister Ariana breaks with him. In the end, he still had to meet with his former friend and enter into a duel with him, which became the largest battle of wizards of his time.
Let us remind you that the second episode of the movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be presented to the audience in 2018.
