On the verge of bankruptcy studio Relativity Media has abandoned the western "Jane Takes a Gun", in which Natalie Portman played the main role. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Thus, the premiere of the movie, scheduled for September 4, 2015, will not take place.

The further fate of the movie is unknown. It is quite possible that Relativity's partner The Weinstein Co. will become its new distributor, but no formal agreements on this matter have been concluded at the time of this writing.

The plot of the western, which takes place in the second half of the 19th century, is built around a heroin named Jane Hammond, who asks her former lover to help in a fight with the gang in which her husband is a member. The creation of the picture was accompanied by a whole series of scandals and changes in the cast. It all started with the sudden resignation of director Lynn Ramsey, who simply didn't show up for work on the first day of shooting. Later, the producers accused her of disrupting movieing, and then of drunkenness.

Also, the performers of the main male roles changed several times for various reasons. The premiere of the movie, scheduled for August 29, 2014, was first postponed to February 20, and then to September 4, 2015.
