Ryan Murphy to direct new anthology of famous feuds

Prolific producer Ryan Murphy is adding yet another anthology to his track record. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy and FX will be movieing Feud, which, as the title suggests, will focus on the famous feuds.

The first season of eight episodes, which will be produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, will focus on the legendary showdown between Golden Age Hollywood stars Joan Crawford and Bette Davis during the movieing of What Happened to Baby Jane? in 1962. The rivalry between the two popular actresses was followed with great interest, which had a beneficial effect on the movie itself, nominated in five Academy Award nominations, including one for Davis.

Jessica Lange, who worked for Murphy in American Horror Story, will play Crawford, and Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking) will play; Davis. The anthology pilot is based in part on a screenplay by Jaffe Cohen and Michael Zam, acquired by Murphy. Among the producers of the anthology – Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner's studio Plan B Entertainment.

Alfred Molina will play the movie's director, Robert Aldrich; Stanley Tucci – Titanium Warner Bros. Pictures by Jack Warner; Judy Davis – gossip journalist Heddu Hopper; and Dominic Burgess – Crawford and Davis' movie partner, Victor Buono. Murphy will direct several episodes of the anthology, which will begin production in fall 2016. The series will premiere on FX in 2017. Lange and Sarandon are also producers of the TV project.
