Lara Croft Movie Premiere Date Announced
Warner Bros. and MGM have announced a premiere date for a movie tentatively titled "Lara Croft 3," based on the popular game series. It will be presented to viewers not in 2017, as previously thought, but on March 16, 2018. The movie has no direct competitors in this "rental window" yet, the cartoon "Ralph 2" will start at the box office only a week before. As it became known earlier, the main role will be played by the Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, familiar to the audience from such movies as "Out of the Car", "Girl from Denmark" and others. The movie will be based on a screenplay by Evan Dougherty and Geneva Robertson-Dvoret. Note that the restart of the popular Lara Croft franchise was announced in 2011, but so far no significant progress has been noted. The previous attempt was made in 2001, when the movie "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" was released. The title role was played by Angelina Jolie. Despite a very modest collection, the Paramount Pictures movie studio shot a sequel, which earned even less at the worldwide box office.
