The National Film Academy Awards ceremony took place in Australia. For the first time in the history of this organization, the main prize in the category "Best Film" was shared by two movie projects - the drama "Water Seeker", directed by Russell Crowe, and the horror movie "Babaduk".

The creator of the latter, Jennifer Kent, also won the Best Director category. David Galpilil, who starred in Land of Charlie, won the Best Actor award, while Sarah Snook (Time Patrol) received the award in a similar female category. Susan Pryor ("Rover") and Yilmaz Erdogan ("Water Seeker") won in the nominations in which the performers of supporting roles competed.

Vengeance won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and Lego Movie won Best Special Effects and Animation.

Recall that the movie "The Water Seeker" will be released in USA on March 26, 2015, and the premiere of "Babaduk" took place on January 29, 2015.

The Australian Film Academy was organized by the National Film Institute in 2011. For the Australian movie industry, the award is considered an analogue of the American Oscar. Awarded annually.
