Actress Sigourney Weaver spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the canceled sequel to Aliens, which has been frozen by 20th Century Fox.

"We had a great script. FOX asked us to postpone movieing to allow Ridley Scott to movie the sequel to Prometheus. It was very sad since we would have finished the movie by now. It was a great story and worthy, in my opinion, completion of the biography of this woman (we are talking about Ellen Ripley - note "Film News") ", - she said.

According to Weaver, the project would be "a tribute to the efforts of other directors working on the franchise, but would give the entire series a whole new direction." "I really hope that we will still be able to realize our plans," the actress added.

Recall that the author of the idea and the director of the movie with the code name "Alien 5" was South African director Neil Blomkamp, who has repeatedly confessed his love for the popular franchise. It was believed that his movie will be a direct sequel to "Aliens", and the protagonists will be the grown-up Newt, Corporal Duian Hicks and Ellen Ripley herself.

Blomcamp has previously shown several concept art to give an idea of his vision.
