20th Century Fox has announced the movieing of the X-Men spin-off, which will be assigned to director Josh Boone, who previously directed the drama The Fault in the Stars. This is reported by the publication Deadline.

The project will be based on a series of comics "New Mutants". “We are thrilled to begin exploring the new territory of the X-Men universe. And we are honored to partner with Josh, who has all the necessary qualities to tell the story of young mutants,” - said in a statement the producer of the project Simon Kinberg.

The series "New Mutants", the protagonists of which were young students of Professor X's school for gifted children, was launched in 1982. It was within the framework of this series that Deadpool made his debut, as well as the well-known mutants of the "older generation" often appeared in it.

Some of the "new mutants" have already been featured in X-Men: Days of Future Past. As of this writing, it has not been announced if they will appear in the spin-off.

The shooting schedule and the date of the premiere have not yet been specified. Previously, 20th Century Fox had scheduled an unnamed X-Men movie to be released in 2018. Quite possibly, we are talking about this announced spin-off.
