Forty years after its premiere, The Omen returns to theaters in the form of a prequel directed by 20th Century Fox. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Antonio Campos (Christine) is in talks to direct the supernatural thriller The First Omen, produced by David S. Goyer and Kevin Touraine. The screenplay for the prequel was written by Ben Jacoby.

The original movie, directed by Richard Donner in 1976, told the story of a boy adopted by the family of an American diplomat who is in fact the Antichrist. The main role in the movie, which immediately became a hit, was played by Gregory Peck.

"The Omen" spawned two full-length sequels and a cycle of novels. Fox movieed a remake of the same name in 2006, starring Liv Schreiber and Julia Styles. It was directed by John Moore. As of this writing, A & E is broadcasting a television sequel to the original movie "Damien" by Fox 21 Television Studios. The project is curated by Glen Mazzara, and Bradley James plays the role of adult Damien.
