Production of a pilot based on the movie By Wolf's Laws has been ordered
Ellen Barkin ("Ocean's Thirteen") and Scott Speedman ("Felicity") have been cast in TNT's "Animal Kingdom" pilot. This is reported by the publication Deadline. The plot of the drama, which is based on the 2010 Australian movie of the same name, "According to the Wolf's Laws", is Joshua "Jay" relatives – grandmother (Barkin) and uncles in a coastal town in southern California. Very soon he realizes that the family's fortune is acquired in a criminal way and suddenly realizes that being in the clan can become incredibly dangerous for him. Barkin will play the mother of the family, Janine "Smurf" Cody. She is the head of the clan and the main organizer of criminal activities. She has enough authority to make the most dangerous bandits tremble in her presence. Jackie Weaver played Janine in the feature movie and earned the actress Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. Speedman got the role of Barry "Baz" Brown, adopted by the Cody family at the age of twelve. Barry now leads a group involved in armed robberies, but is also considering moving away from crime. In the movie, this role is played by Joel Edgerton. The pilot will be produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Horizon Television. In 2011, the pilot developed the Showtime channel.
