HBO commissioned a family drama from the Director of The Short Games
HBO has commissioned production of the pilot of the family drama "Succession". Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Nicholas Brown and Matthew McFaden will star in the Adam McKay and Will Ferrell project. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "Succession" tells a saga about the Roy family, a fictional American family, not only incredibly wealthy and influential, but equally dysfunctional. The drama will explore issues of trust in the family, international business and the dangers of power in the 21st century. Cox (X-Men 2) will lead the project and play Logan Roy, a tough and domineering aging the patriarch of the clan and the head of the family business – international media conglomerate. Strong ("Masters of Sex" ) will play Kendall Roy, the eldest son of Logan's second marriage, who is currently the president of the family firm's division and the most likely successor to the post of head. The role of Kendall's younger brother, an outspoken and cheerful Roman, will be played by Culkin ( "Scott Pilgrim vs. All"). Roman is still on the board of directors, but no longer works in the firm. Snook ("Black Mirror") will appear in the form of Shiv (Shivan) Roy, Logan's only daughter and younger sister of Kendall and Roman. Like Roman, Shiv sits on the board of directors, but her main goal is – a political career. Brown ("It's Good to Be Quiet") will join the drama as Greg, Logan's incompetent nephew and trainee in a leadership position at one of the company's theme parks. McFaiden ("Anna Karenina") will play Tom, Shiv's ambitious partner and groom and senior executive at the company. Jesse Armstrong ("In The Loop") will write and share executive producer duties with McKay (" The fall game "), which the pilot will remove.
