Streaming service Hulu and UK-based ITV have teamed up to create the drama series "Harlots". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the commissioned eight-part drama starring Samantha Morton (Minority Report), Leslie Manville (Another Year) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) will talk about the public home.

Set against the backdrop of eighteenth-century Georgian London, this family drama explores "the city's most lucrative commercial activity" - sex. Based on stories from real women, the series follows Margaret Wells (Morton) and her daughters and how she tries to combine the two roles - mothers and brothel owners. When her business is threatened by ruthless rival Lydia Quigley (Menville), Margaret decides to strike back, even if it threatens her family's safety. Findlay will play Charlotte, Margaret's eldest daughter and the city's most coveted courtesan, who begins to fight for her position in society and in her family.

Written by playwright Moira Buffini ("Jane Eyre"), the drama is based on the original the idea of Buffini herself and Alison Newman ("The Modern Ripper"). Production of the series will begin in June this year in London. The director's chair will be shared by Koki Gedroyc ("Horror on the cheap") and China Mu-En ("People"). Lawrence Till, Alison Owen and Debra Hayward will act as executive producer.
