While "X-Men: Apocalypse" was released worldwide, FX decided to tell its own X-Men story on television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX has commissioned the production of Noah Hawley's eight-part drama Legion. The series debuts in early 2017.

Legion features the story of David Holler (Dan Stevens), a young man, possibly with special abilities, who has struggled with mental illness since he was a teenager. For many years with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, David spent in hospitals. But after a strange acquaintance with one of the patients of the clinic, he learns that the voices and visions for which he was treated may be real. In a literary comic, David – son of Professor Charles Xavier and Holocaust survivor Gabriella Holler. The character first appeared in issue 25 of New Mutants in March 1985.
