"Candyman" has become another "victim" of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Universal Studios and MGM have abandoned their plans to present viewers with a new version of the horror movie in October 2020. According to Variety, it was discontinued without a new release date.

Note that Candyman was originally scheduled to premiere in June, but due to the closure of most cinemas in North America and around the world , the release was pushed back to autumn. The movie was described by the creators themselves as the successor to the 1992 slasher movie. Based on an urban legend, it tells the story of an artist who gradually loses his mind after being exposed to Candyman's horrific story. Legend has it that if someone pronounces his name in front of the mirror five times, Candyman will appear and kill him, who called him.

Tony Todd, Colman Domingo, Theiona Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Rebecca Spence, Yahya Abdul-Matin II and other artists were involved in the project. Directed by Nia DaCosta.

Recall that Candyman is not the only movie whose distribution schedule has been changed due to uncertainty on the movie market.
