George Clooney announced his sunshine boycott

George Clooney wrote a second open letter in which he tried to explain the meaning of the boycott of the hotels belonging to the family of the Sultan of Brunei, which he called for earlier, as well as his attitude towards other Arab countries. Fragments of it are quoted by Deadline.

"For those who want to know about Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, Somalia? The list is long. We all do what we can. For our part, most of the time I spend bringing out corrupt and criminal regimes led by some of the worst human rights violators in the world. We try to deprive them of funding and oppose the institutions through which they launder money. Trust me, no banker living in London wants to be exposed as an accomplice of a human rights violator Sunlight is an excellent disinfectant.

You can't force the bad guys to be good, but you can stop the good guys from complicity. Let me just paint a picture for you: 20 years from now, you or your kids will be asked, "Is it true that the guy who owned all these great hotels stoned gay men to death?" You will say yes. The next question will be: "And you still lived in these hotels?".

Recall that Clooney took up arms against the Sultan of Brunei because of the country's law that allows stoning gays.
