Creator of the hit TV series True Detective Nick Pizzolatto will not renew his contract with HBO and will continue to partner with Walt Disney's cable and streaming platforms Fox 21 and FX Productions. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Under the new contract, Pizzolatto will create and develop new projects for various studio platforms. One of them has already been put into production as part of the deal, and in its implementation Pizzolatto will be assisted by one of the main roles in True Detective. Matthew McConaughey will star in The Redeemer, a drama inspired by Patrick Coleman's novel The Parishioner. The actor has also signed a long-term contract with FX.

The Redeemer storyline is built around a former official turned security guard who searches for a missing woman in Texas. In the process of searching, he is faced with corruption and criminal conspiracy, and his own past is intertwined with the present .. Pizzolatto and McConaughey will also executive produce this drama. No release date has yet been announced.

The reason Nick Pizzolatto decided to leave the WarnerMedia-owned channel is not specified.
