The state of California will try to motivate the moviemakers of "Sherlock Holmes 3" with unprecedented tax breaks. According to Variety, the Cinematography Commission approved a tax deduction of $ 20.8 million. Its members estimate that shooting the third part of the project will provide about $ 106 million in targeted spending, and it will be the second largest project in terms of expenses, more - $ 118 million - spent on the state territory by the moviemakers of Captain Marvel.

“California is competing again for big-budget movie projects. In addition to our tax incentive program, we have so many additional resources that other regions simply cannot compete with us,” commented Colleen Bell, executive director of the Commission.

Earlier it was reported that movieing "Sherlock Holmes 3" is likely to start in early 2020 with an eye to release in December 2021. The action is expected to move from Europe to the United States. The main roles will be played again by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The director of the first two episodes, Guy Ritchie, is likely to return to the director's chair again.
