Actor and producer Robert Downey Jr. will help the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) find and restore silent films about the famed literary hero Arthur Conan Doyle. The two-time Oscar nominee will serve as Honorary Project Manager for Finding Sherlock: The Game Begun. "Sherlock Holmes is an international phenomenon," said Ian-Christopher Horak, head of the UCLA Film and Television Archives. "We want to find out how many films about the detective have survived to this day." According to Horak, the world has lost about 80 percent of the work of the silent film era. In this regard, the University of California and Downey Jr. launched a large-scale search campaign to track down and restore old tapes about the detective from Baker Street. The Hollywood actor is familiar with the work of Conan Doyle: since 2009, he has played Holmes in the Warner Bros. Robert is currently preparing for the third film in the franchise. Downey Jr. will reappear as Master of Deduction on December 23, 2021. Source: MovieWeb The Topic of Article: Sherlock Holmes will save Sherlock Holmes. |
